Bernard McDonald

Bernard McDonald has conducted productions with leading opera companies across North America, Europe, and Asia, including the New National Theatre Tokyo, Netherlands Opera, and Glyndebourne Festival. Upcoming engagements include Le Nozze di Figaro (Indianapolis Opera), Don Giovanni and Albert Herring (Opera Orlando), and The Magic Flute (Mobile Opera). He has led performances of Rigoletto, Tosca, La Bohème, Rusalka, and the U.S. staged première of Montemezzi’s L’incantesimo.

A graduate of the San Francisco Opera Merola Program, McDonald has served on the music staff of New York City Opera and as Head of Music at Florida Grand Opera. He is currently Director of Opera and the Marcus B. and Betty Graves Shelfer Professor of Musical Theatre and Opera at Florida State University.
