About PSN

Debuting in 2015 and hailed for its high-quality productions and sophistication, Classical Movements’ Prague Summer Nights: Young Artists Music Festival (PSN) offers aspiring young professionals in the world of opera and orchestra the opportunity to perform in some of Europe’s most historic venues.  The 4-week program offers:

  • four staged Opera performances of Le Nozze di Figaro and Die Zauberflöte;
  • three Orchestral performances;
  • two Chamber Music concerts;
  • an Opera Scenes program and concert;
  • a Cabaret concert;
  • individual coaching;
  • masterclasses;
  • classes in acting and diction (Italian, German, Czech);
  • and other career development opportunities.

In 2025, PSN is proud to return to historic Tábor and Prague, located in the heart of one of Europe’s most beautiful and historic countries, the Czech Republic, staging rehearsals, classes and concerts in the local theaters.

Singers will prepare and perform in an opera scenes program featuring scenes from Czech operas by Dvořák, Smetana, and Janacek, sung in Czech, and prepared in collaboration with with Timothy Cheek, one of the world’s leading experts on singing in Czech. The scenes program also features scenes from contemporary Czech opera, and scenes from the standard opera repertoire.  Singers will work directly with PSN coaches and faculty on diction, language, acting and character development.

Singers will also enjoy singing in a fun evening of Cabaret performances with music from the Great American Songbook and Broadway once in Prague, with music from composers such as Leonard Bernstein, George Gershwin, Stephen Sondheim, Irving Berlin, Kurt Weill and Cole Porter.  This Cabaret performance will take place in a famous Prague jazz club.

Lastly, PSN Vocalists will move on to take the final stage in Vienna, Austria, closing the festival with four performances of Le Nozze di Figaro and Die Zauberflöte in one of Europe’s most iconic cities. Our opera performances, with orchestra, will be presented with historic costumes from local theaters. 

The Prague Summer Nights Festival Orchestra will perform a their own rigorous program of three full orchestral concerts at several concert venues in and around Prague, most notably at the stunning Smetana Hall in Prague – one of Europe’s most beautiful Art Nouveau venues – alongside the renowned Dallas Symphony Chorus.

During the festival, Orchestra members will have the opportunity to perform in two Chamber music concerts, receiving coaching with PSN faculty and visiting guest artists. The orchestra will perform Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro and Die Zauberflöte for the festival finale in Vienna, Austria.

Prague Summer Nights offers many opportunities beyond performance to young professionals hoping to build a career in Conducting, Coaching, Stage Directing, Theatre Technicians and Arts Admin!  Apprentice Conductors and Coaches will assist in all rehearsals and classes, working alongside esteemed PSN faculty and facilitating performance  preparations.  Stage Director and Theatre Technicians will be afforded the opportunity to assist with the production management of all performances, gaining working experience in some of the most unique and spectacular venues.  Arts Administrators will assist with the many managerial and adminstrative duties that such a festival requires, gaining valuable experience and insight into the real-life workings of the world of Opera and Orchestra performances and festivals hosted in international venues.
