Vocal Academy

In 2017, Prague Summer Nights introduced the Prague Summer Nights Vocal Academy. This program is designed to offer focused and comprehensive development to young singers as they continue their journey in the opera world. Each year there are a limited number of spots for our Vocal Academy.

The singers chosen for this program will have the opportunity to sing in the chorus and understudy a role from Le Nozze di Figaro or Die Zauberflöte, which includes attending staging rehearsals and coaching the role with the Prague Summer Nights faculty. They will attend all workshops and masterclasses offered and will also perform in the Prague Summer Nights cabaret program.

Performance Opportunities

  • Featured roles in the Opera Scenes program, featuring scenes from important Czech operas such as Rusalka and the Bartered Bride
  • Understudy role in Die Zauberflöte or Le Nozze di Figaro 
  • Chorus for Die Zauberflöte and Le Nozze di Figaro
  • Performance in the historic Reduta jazz club in Prague

Program Highlights

  • Voice lessons and coachings with the Prague Summer Nights voice faculty
  • Masterclasses with visiting guest faculty from leading opera companies
  • Performance preparation & career development workshops, including: resume building, social media and networking, audition workshops, acting and movement masterclasses
  • Possibilities to sing for European casting directors, theater directors and conductors
