Seven Areas of Study Expands to Nine
Alexandria VA, USA — [13 December 2024] — Prague Summer Nights: Young Artists Music Festival (PSN) proudly announces its 2025 season, celebrating its 10th anniversary with an exciting lineup of opera and orchestra performances, expanded opportunities for participants, and a finale in Vienna. The festival will take place from June 16 to July 14, 2025, offering an unparalleled artistic experience for singers, instrumentalists, and arts professionals, and introducing a new ten day festival, PSN Presto! – a condensed festival option designed for participants with limited time.
10 Years of Artistic Growth and Innovation
Launched in 2014, PSN has since featured guest faculty from leading orchestras and music conservatories, as well as superstars like Sherrill Milnes, Rosalind Plowright, Pumeza Matshikiza and Lawrence Brownlee. Prague Summer Nights has grown into an intensive and robust festival for young artists worldwide. After a one-year hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival continued its tradition of fostering and training talent in the Czech Republic and beyond.
Introducing PSN Presto!
In 2025, PSN is excited to present the new PSN Presto! ten-day festival from June 26 to July 5 that offers an intensive program culminating in a fully staged performance of Puccini’s Suor Angelica in the historic Church of St. Simon and St. Jude in Prague, where Mozart and Haydn once worked. This condensed program is ideal for artists seeking a shorter yet equally transformative experience.
The Four Week Festival includes 11 Public Performances:
- Four staged opera performances in Vienna, Austria;
- Three full orchestral concerts, this year including a performance at Prague’s iconic Smetana Hall alongside the renowned Dallas Symphony Chorus;
- Two chamber music concerts;
- An Opera Scenes program featuring works by Dvořák, Smetana, and Janáček in Czech, prepared in collaboration with Timothy Cheek, a leading authority on Czech repertoire;
- A Cabaret concert in a Prague jazz club, featuring Broadway and American Songbook classics;
- Masterclasses, individual coaching, acting and diction classes in Italian, German, and Czech.
Singers will enjoy in-depth preparation, guided by PSN’s esteemed faculty, to bring opera scenes and full productions to life. For the finale, vocalists will take the stage in Vienna, performing Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro and Die Zauberflöte with orchestral accompaniment and historic costumes.
Orchestra members will experience an intensive and rewarding program, performing chamber music and three full orchestral programs while providing accompaniment for the festival’s opera productions in Vienna.
Apprentice conductors, coaches, stage directors, and production managers will gain hands-on experience working alongside professionals in the field, while arts administrators will contribute to the intricate behind-the-scenes operations of this international festival.
New Program: Assistant Production Managers
Prague Summer Nights introduces a new Assistant Production Manager program, offering aspiring professionals hands-on experience in the world of opera. Participants will work behind the scenes on every production, gaining skills in stage management, costume and makeup assistance, scene setup and changes.
